We just finished another assignment with the National Institutes of Health IDeA program for K-INBRE, the Kansas IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence. Undergrads, graduate, and doctoral students from universities across Kansas attended the annual symposium and presented their research using the iPoster platform. Great science, great iPosters, and a great experience.
Our work with the American Astronomical Society continues, this time at their annual Winter Meeting in Seattle.
160 interactive iPosters were presented to over three thousand participants, including this future astrophysicist, who we expect will soon be creating his own multimedia presentations.
Footnote: The US government shutdown prevented many people from attending and presenting their research, but iPosters enabled them to submit and view the presentations virtually.
29,661 attendees at AGU2018 – the American Geophysical Union’s 100 year anniversary meeting.
800 iPosters were presented in 20 sessions over the course of the 5-day meeting. Each session began with short, moderated oral presentations in the two “eLightning” theaters. Presenters then went out to an assigned screen at one of 42 interactive touch screen stations, where they were able to present and discuss their work in detail with meeting participants. 8 interactive browsing screens were also available for independent exploration. And of course all iPosters can be available online – up there, everywhere, all the time.
We just finished up an inspiring week in Maputo, Mozambique for AFENET – our fist assignment in Africa.
The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) in collaboration with Mozambique’s National Institute of Health and the Mozambique Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program organised the 7th AFENET Scientific Conference. Over 400 iPosters were presented around the theme of Building Resilient and Sustainable Public Health Systems in Africa through Field Epidemiology Training.
AFENET was established in 2005 as a non-profit organization and networking alliance of African Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs (FELTPs), and other applied epidemiology training programs.
AFENET is dedicated to helping ministries of Health in Africa build strong, effective, and sustainable programs with capacity to improve public health systems partnering with global public health experts. The network’s goal is to strengthen field epidemiology and public health laboratory capacity to contribute effectively to addressing epidemics and other major public health problems in Africa.
AFENET operates in 31 African countries: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
Each year since 1997, upwards of 10,000 high school students from over 30 countries compete to win the Stockholm Junior Water Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious youth science awards.
The competition is open to students between 15 and 20 years of age who have conducted water-related projects of proven environmental, scientific, social or technological significance. Initial competitions are held at local, regional, state and national levels in each country. The national winners are then invited to World Water Week in Stockholm for the final competition and for the International Award, which is presented by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
